We know that security and peace of mind is important when it comes to communicating with your clients, either digitally or face to face. Using WriteUpp's video consultation platform, you have the option to turn on two factor authentication when a patient joins their appointment. Much like the way in which direct messages and smart forms are sent, this adds an extra layer of security to the consultation.

If you choose to use this optional setting, your patients will be sent an SMS message when they click on the link to access their video consultation. This message will contain an access code, that they'll need to enter into the video portal to gain access and join you for this session.

You will therefore need SMS credits and a mobile number for each of your patients to be able to use two factor authentication for video consultation

If you have two factor authentication turned on for video consultations and you book an appointment for a patient who doesn't have a mobile number on their record, you'll see a reminder:

Just make sure you've entered their mobile number before the appointment is due to take place, and they'll receive the code.

Setting up two factor authentication

Two factor authentication is managed by a Site Administrator

To set up additional verification for your video consultations, head to the Main Menu in WriteUpp and choose Settings -> General.

Find the Enhanced video security switch and slide it to the right to require your patients to type in an access code to join their video consultation. If the switch appears blue, you've got two factor authentication for video turned on. Don't forget to click Save at the bottom of the screen if you make any changes to the setting!

If two factor authentication is turned on, you'll see this once you click on Switch to video within an appointment, but doesn't make any difference to the way you as a clinician access the consultation.

You might want to add information on the access code to your video confirmations and reminders, so your patients know they'll need to have their mobile to hand at the scheduled time.
