Switching to Stripe Billing
If you’re currently subscribed to WriteUpp via GoCardless or PayPal, good news, you can now switch your subscription to Stripe Billing!
Why switch to Stripe?
Stripe offers a faster, more flexible billing experience. You can pay by card, Direct Debit, or Apple/Google Pay, and manage your subscription directly through the Stripe Portal within WriteUpp.
Switching to Stripe unlocks the full range of WriteUpp plans, including Solo and Group, which could save you money if you:
- Regularly use SMS credits or
- Have the Online Booking add-on
- Require admin (non-clinical) users

Important information regarding promotions:
If you’re currently on a timed promotion (for example, 25% off for 4 months), you won’t see the option to switch to Stripe until the promotion period ends. Once it finishes, the switch option will become available.
How to switch to Stripe Billing
- As a Site Administrator, go to Settings -> Account Details.
- At the top of the page, you’ll see a blue banner inviting you to switch to Stripe.
- Click the link in the banner.
- The Stripe Billing form will open. Enter your payment details (you can pay by card, Direct Debit, or Apple/Google Pay).
- Click 'Pay and Subscribe'.
- You’ll be redirected back to WriteUpp.
- You’re all set!
You’re now subscribed to WriteUpp via Stripe Billing. To view your subscription information at any time, head back to Account Details and click to access the Stripe Portal under ‘Mechanism’.
Important notes:
- Your first payment via Stripe will be taken on your next scheduled payment date from GoCardless or PayPal - switching won’t bring the payment forward.
- Your billing history for previous payments will remain accessible through your payment history.
