Enabling Group Video Calling in WriteUpp

In WriteUpp, 1:1 video calling is included in your subscription. To host these calls, users will need to purchase video minute bundles.

If you’d like to also host group video calls, you can enable this via an add-on!

Note: Group video calling is available to subscribers only. When you move from trial to a paid plan, simply add video licences to your subscription to enable it.

Each user who needs to host group calls will require a video licence. You’ll need to add enough video licences to your subscription to cover every user who needs one. Each video licence costs £8 per month. Note: For pricing in CAD and EUR, please check the Account page of your WriteUpp site, or chat to us via live chat.

Users with a video licence also get unlimited video minutes, so you won’t need to purchase bundles for their calls!

Why add Group Video Calling?

If you or your team host lots of video sessions, the Group Video Calling add-on can help you save money and simplify billing. Here are the benefits:

  • Unlimited video minutes for licensed users (no bundles required!)
  • Predictable pricing each month
  • Host up to 4 participants in a single call
  • Ideal for group therapy, training, or collaborative sessions

Even if you don’t need group video calling, the add-on could still save you money if you regularly use more than 800 minutes a month (prices in GBP)!

How to enable group video calling

Switch to Stripe Billing

To add video licences to your subscription, you’ll need to be on Stripe Billing. Switching is simple - just follow the steps outlined here.

Once you’ve switched, or if you’re already on Stripe Billing, you can add licences using the steps below!

Add video licences to your subscription

  1. Go to SettingsAccount

  1. To add Licences to your subscription, simply use the Video licence(s) field to choose how many you need.

  1. Click Update Subscription to save your changes.

Warning: If you currently pay for your subscription via PayPal or GoCardless, you’ll need to switch to Stripe billing before you can add video licences.

Assign your video licences

  1. Open the main menu and go to Integrations & Add-onsVideo ConsultationConfigure.

  1. You’ll see slots for each video licence in your subscription. Click Assign next to each one and select the user who needs it.

Once assigned, those users will be able to host group video calls of up to 4 participants (including the host), with unlimited video minutes!
