What should I do if a member of my team can't login with 2FA?
If a member of your team is unable to login with 2FA, there are a couple of things you can check.
Ensure that they have completed the 2FA set up process. You can check this by going to Settings -> Users and looking at the "2FA" column:
If they have not set up 2FA their status will be set to "No". If so, please direct them to the following article:
How do I set up two-factor authentication (2FA) as a user?
If 2FA hasn't been set up for the user yet, they'll need to log in at your site specific URL, which is something like https://your-practice-name-here.writeupp.com. They won't be able to log in and set up 2FA by going to www.writeupp.com and clicking login. If they do this, they should see a message redirecting them to your URL instead.
If they have completed the 2FA setup and they are having problems with the authenticator app, you should ask them to take a look at the article below to make sure that they are following the correct procedure:
How do I login once I have set up 2FA?
If they are still having problems, suggest that they go through the process in front of you and it should become clearer what they are doing wrong. Please do not contact the WriteUpp Help Desk with 2FA login issues as there is nothing we can do to reset or override access via 2FA. The technology is used industry-wide by Google, Microsoft and many other companies and is unlikely to be the cause of the problem. Potential user issues might be:
They have multiple accounts set up in their authenticator app (for other applications as well as WriteUpp) and they are entering the wrong code
They are being too slow when entering the code. The codes change every 30 seconds, which is more than enough time to enter it and there is actually some tolerance either side even when the code has changed.
They are entering the same code every time! Some users may not realise it changes and so they may write it down the first time they set up and try to use it again and again, which won't work!
Are they able to use the "Verify using SMS" option after entering their username and password?
If you're unable to establish what might be causing the issue, you should reset your user's 2FA by following the instructions in the article below:
Can I reset 2FA for myself or another user?
Having done this your user will need to set up 2FA again and you should direct them to the following article:

If your user is still unable to login please contact the WriteUpp Help Desk with the following information about the user having the problem and we will do our best to assist:
