CloudRx FAQs

Here you can find the answers to some frequently asked questions on our CloudRx integration! Can't find what you're looking for? Chat with us or send us an email at the bottom of the page.

Do I need to sign up with CloudRx to use the integration?

Yes, to send prescriptions electronically from WriteUpp, you must already have registered with CloudRx.

How do I register with CloudRx

If you are a prescribing healthcare professional, you can register with CloudRx here. Once you've completed and submitted the information, CloudRx will contact you to confirm your identity before proceeding with your registration. You can find out more about what happens after you register here.

Is there a cost to using CloudRx?

No, there are no charges for using CloudRx, and no charges from WriteUpp for using the integration.

I'm already registered, how do I get started?

Great! First of all, you (or a site administrator on your account) will need to enable the integration by entering the clinic code provided for the clinic by CloudRx when your registration was confirmed. You'll then need to enter your prescriber details to allow us to send prescriptions to CloudRx for you.

I have more than one user who is prescriber, do we all need to register with CloudRx?

Yes, every user who wishes to prescribe via WriteUpp will need to register with CloudRx. They then enter their own prescriber details under their own login.

What are the delivery costs?

The delivery cost for a prescription sent by CloudRx will depend on the method of delivery selected. You'll be able to select a delivery method when generating the prescription and the patient will also have the opportunity to change this before they make payment. You can find the costs here.

My patient can't see Saturday as a delivery option when paying for their order?

There are currently 2 Saturday delivery options available through CloudRx. While you can select either Saturday option at any time from WriteUpp, the Saturday delivery options are only available on the CloudRx payment portal for orders paid for on a Friday. If you place an order earlier in the week and the patient accesses and pays for their prescription before Friday, they should select one of the other options.

Where can CloudRx deliver to?

CloudRx prescriptions can be delivered to addresses in the UK and channel islands. Prescriptions cannot be delivered to any other countries.

How does a patient pay for a prescription?

Once you send an order to CloudRx, the patient will receive an email and/or a text message which will contain a link to a secure online payment platform. The payment page will summarise the contents of the order and the delivery options and allow the patient to check their address before making payment.

Can I make changes to a prescription I've already sent?

Not from WriteUpp, but if you contact CloudRx, changes can be made provided the order has not yet been dispatched to the patient. Prescriptions are normally dispensed the same day they are received by CloudRx and paid for by the patient. They leave the dispensary at around 3pm daily, so it should be possible to make changes before this point.

Can I cancel a CloudRx order from WriteUpp?

No, once you send an order from WriteUpp, you would need to contact CloudRx directly to cancel it.

Can I generate an order as a repeat prescription via WriteUpp?

Unfortunately not but what you can do is copy a previous order, which will create a new order using exactly the same details and items, which can then be sent.

Can I apply a prescriber fee to a prescription generated via WriteUpp

You can add prescriber fees to an order you send from WriteUpp by including a prescriber fee as an item on the prescription. Search for "prescriber fee" in the medication search field to see the options.

How can I check the status of a CloudRx order?

Once you've sent the order from WriteUpp, we'll save a copy of what you created to the Files tab of the patient summary so you've got a record of it. If you open the saved copy, you'll also see an "order status" section included, which will display the status of the order. As it progresses, you'll also see a dispatch date, a tracking ID and a cancellation reason where appropriate. When you open the page, we'll send a request to CloudRx for an update on the status in the background, so you can be sure you are seeing the most up to date information on the order!

Can non-prescribers create a prescription for a prescriber to then authorise and send?

Not from WriteUpp, no. The prescription pathway from WriteUpp should be used by prescribers. There is no way for an admin user to create a prescription to be authorised and completed by a prescriber at a later date.

Can patients return unused medications for a refund?

Unfortunately no refunds can be given for any prescriptions that have been dispensed and dispatched.
