Setting a different cost per clinician for an appointment type
By default, all clinicians attached to an appointment type charge the same price.
If you’d like different clinicians to charge different amounts for the same appointment type, you can set a clinician override cost.
This allows you to keep one appointment type, while customising the price per clinician.
What is an override cost?
An override cost lets you set a custom appointment price for an individual clinician.
- If an override cost is set, that price will be used instead of the default appointment cost.
- If left blank, the appointment will use the default cost set at the top of the appointment type.
Override costs apply to:
- Online Booking 2.0 (Classic Online Booking does not support this feature)
- Invoicing
- Payments
How to set a different cost for a clinician
- Go to Main Menu → Settings → Scheduling → Appointment Types
- Click to Edit an appointment type, or you can set this up when creating a new type.
- Scroll to the ‘Who will offer this treatment?’ section
- In the Override cost column, enter a custom price for the clinician(s) who require it:

- Save the Appointment Type
That’s it! The override cost will now be used whenever that clinician is booked for this appointment type.
How this appears in Online Booking 2.0
If an appointment type has different costs per clinician:
- The appointment type will show “Cost varies” on your Online Booking site (if price visibility is enabled)

Clients will see the correct price:
- When selecting a clinician (if price visibility is enabled)
- On the Payment screen (if payments are enabled)
- In appointment confirmations (if the appointment cost variable is present)
The correct override cost is also used for payments and invoicing.
