How do I sync my diary with Google Calendar?
To set up a sync with Google Calendar:
In WriteUpp, open the main menu and click on Integrations & Add Ons -> Calendar Integrations -> Configure
If your calendar feed is already activated, copy the feed displayed
If you don't see your calendar feed on screen, click on Activate the URL, which will then activate and display your URL
The calendar feed displayed here is specific to the user who is logged in. If, for example, you are a secretary or admin assistant to a clinician, you will need to ask them to provide you with the calendar feed displayed when they log into WriteUpp. If you work with multiple clinicians, you'll need to sync each user's calendar link to your Google Calendar.
Open Google Calendar in your browser
You can't create a new calendar sync within the Google Calendar app, but once created you'll be able to see it in both the browser and the app
Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top right of Google Calendar to open the main menu:
Scroll down to Other Calendars and click on the + icon to Add other calendars:
Then choose From URL from the options that appear:
Paste the calendar feed into the URL field:
Do NOT check the 'Make the calendar publicly available?' box
Then click on Add Calendar:
Once you've set the calendar up in your browser, you can also view it from within the mobile app, by clicking on the menu at the top left of your screen:
Then ticking the calendar you wish to see:
The diary sync will display appointments from 1 week in the past to 12 weeks in the future - they won't sync indefinitely both ways. Past appointments and appointments more than 12 weeks in the future can be viewed within WriteUpp as normal.
Unfortunately, the Google Feed is only polled every day, so updates aren't instantaneous. Apple poll every few minutes, so updates are more or less instant to the iOS/Mac OSX Calendars. This is not something that is within our control.
The other thing to bear in mind is that this is a 1-way feed. Changes made in WriteUpp are passed to Google, but you can't change/create in Google. The reason for this is that our calendar supports extra information relating to the appointment, such as Type & Status, that can't be specified in Google Calendar.
