How to Add and Customise File Storage Types
In WriteUpp, you can use the File Storage area to upload general files, which can then be attached to emails and Direct Messages being sent out from within WriteUpp.
When uploading a file, you can associate a File Type with it, to help categorise and manage your files. In the File Storage area, the File Type is shown in the Type column, and you can filter by the Type too:
To add and customise your File Types, follow the steps below...
To add a new Type:
- Head to Settings & Tools -> Fields
- Click on the File Storage Types tab:
- You will see a list of your current File Types. Click on the blue +Add button to create a new one
- The ‘Add File Type’ modal will open. Enter a Name for the new File Type. The ‘Active’ box will already be ticked.
- If you would like it to be the default type, tick the ‘Default’ box too:
- When you are happy, press Save
- You will be taken back to the File Storage Types tab, where you will see the new Type added to the list:
- You can now assign this File Type to any files you have uploaded to the File Storage area
To customise an existing File Type:
- Head to Settings & Tools -> **Fields **
- Click on the File Storage Types tab
- You will see a list of your current File Types. Locate the File Type you would like to edit and press the Pencil icon at the end of the row
- The ‘Edit File Type’ modal will open. From here you can edit the Name, the active status and the default setting for the type
- If you would like to edit the Name, simply type your changes into the Name field
- If you wish to change the active status of a Type, use the ‘Active’ checkbox to do so. If you untick it, the File Type will become inactive and you will no longer be able to select it when editing a file from File Storage:
- To make a File Type the default, tick the ‘Default’ box. The default File Type is the one that is automatically assigned to new files uploaded to File Storage. Only one File Type can be selected as the default. If you untick the ‘Default’ box, the next File Type in the list will become the default.
- Press Save when you have finished making any changes!
