Why do I need text credits to send a Direct Message?

When you send a Direct Message, WriteUpp will send an SMS as well as an email to the recipient. The SMS is sent when the access link in the email is clicked, and contains an access code which must be used to open the message. This provides an extra layer of authentication to anything you send via Direct Message, just like two-factor authentication.

If you try to send a Direct Message and you don't have any text credits, you'll see this message:



You'll need to purchase credits before you can send your message.
