Cancelling a scan referral

If, for whatever reason, you wish to cancel a scan referral for a patient, you can do so from the scan referral form in WriteUpp up until the point that the status is confirmed.

A scan has the status of confirmed once the patient has selected a location and paid for their scan using the online portal. Therefore after this point, you will NOT be able to cancel the referral from within WriteUpp. The patient should contact scan.com directly to do so.

To cancel a scan referral:

Go to the Files tab of the patient summary and open the referral that you wish to cancel.

Under the Scan Information section, if you are able to initiate the cancellation you will see a blue Cancel Referral button:



Click on the cancel referral button, and you’ll see a pop-up asking if you’re sure you want to cancel the referral. There will also be a text field where you can add an optional cancellation reason. If you’re still sure you want to cancel the referral, then click Yes.

You will then see a green banner confirming that the referral has been cancelled and the status of the referral will be updated to ‘cancelled’:



You, the clinician, will also receive an email from scan.com confirming the cancellation. The patient will receive an email from scan.com too, informing them that the referral has been cancelled.

If you don’t see the cancel referral button on the saved referral form, it means that the scan has progressed past the stage at which we are able to send a request to cancel it. The patient should cancel by contacting scan.com directly via email on info@uk.scan.com or via phone on +44 (0) 1277 674 889.

If you want to remove the record of the referral from WriteUpp, you can use the bin icon at the bottom right of the page to delete it. However, this will not cancel the referral, the patient must still action the cancellation directly with scan.com.
