Linking notes to appointments

When creating or editing notes in WriteUpp, you have the ability to add a link to an appointment that you've got booked into your diary for the client. This can help you see at a glance which notes relate to which appointments when reviewing the clients notes summary.

To do this, you have the option to add a Linked to appointment in this field here:

Clicking on the icon within the field will open a new box. On the left hand side, you'll see a list of all of the appointments that are booked into your diary for your active client:

When creating a new note, the appointments that you see here will be from the client's current open episode of care.

When editing an existing note, the appointments displayed will be from the episode of care that the note belongs to, as the link between appointments and notes can only be made if they are in the same episode. You won't be able to link a note to appointment which takes place in another episode.

You can also choose to link notes to a manually entered date, which is covered in more detail here.

Select an appointment from the list, then click on Set Date:

You'll be taken back to the note where you'll see the date and time entered in the Linked to field in black text:

You can then complete the rest of your note using the options available to you and then choose either Save and Continue or Save and Exit from the bottom of the screen.

The link between the note and the appointment is not made until the note is saved after the date is selected, so be sure to do this before exiting the screen!

You'll then see that within the details of your draft note, the date and time is now a clickable link to take you straight to that appointment in the diary:

If you use the WriteUpp App, you'll also be able to link a note created in the app to an appointment, which you can read about here.

Back on the Notes tab, you'll also see the linked appointment listed as a clickable link on Grid view:

And if looking at List view, you'll also see the linked appointment date in the header at the top of an entry:

If you'd like to remove a linked appointment from a note, you can do this while the note has a draft status. Click on the Created date while on the notes Grid view to open it, then click on the link icon in the Linked to field. The linked appointment will be visible when the box opens, clicking on Remove Link will remove it from the note:

Again you'll need to save the note to save the change, after which you'll see that the date has been removed from the Linked to field.
