Creating a new scan referral
To create a referral for a scan through WriteUpp, scan.com must first of all be enabled on your account and you’ll need to have connected as a user.
To create a scan referral, open the dropdown menu to the right of the active patient button and choose Scan referral:
Scan referrals can only be created when logged into WriteUpp using the browser on your device, they aren't supported on the WriteUpp app
The new scan referral form will open containing information on who the referral is for and the scan details:
Under Referral for, you’ll see the option to set the referral as visible to yourself (and site administrators) only and fields to cover who the scan is for:
First name
Last name
Email address
Mobile number
Date of birth
These fields will be automatically populated from the active patient information if it's present. Therefore, if any of these fields are empty on the patient summary, you will have to enter the information manually on the form, as they are all mandatory.
You'll then need to enter information on the scan itself. This covers:
Scan type - MRI, CT, Ultrasound or X-ray
Body part(s) - selected from a dropdown of available options for the type of scan selected above. Up to 4 body parts for MRI and CT, 2 for Ultrasound and 1 for X-ray
Referral information - you may wish to state the reason for the scan or any other extra details you think are relevant. This field cannot be left blank
Once you are satisfied with the information entered into the form, click the Send Referral button at the bottom of the page. A green banner will appear to confirm the referral is complete and you will be directed to the Files tab of the patient summary. You’ll see an entry for the scan on screen, identified with the scan reference number:
The patient will then receive an email with a link inviting them to book their scan through the scan.com portal at a time and place convenient for them.
