Stripe Unified and a new Wibbi Integration (v2.17.9)
This release is an exciting one, as it introduces Stripe Unified, bringing you lower transaction fees, plus a new integration with Wibbi! Check it all out below ⬇️
We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with Stripe, which will allow us to leverage Stripe’s processing capabilities alongside lower transaction fees to continue to power up your payment management within WriteUpp.
For those of you taking payments in GBP and EUR, you’ll benefit from these lower transaction fees straight out of the gates. Previously, payments through WriteUpp were charged at the standard Stripe rates + 0.5% per transaction.
With the new “Stripe Unified” connection:
GBP payments in the UK with a standard UK card will be 1.5% + 20p per transaction
EUR payments in the EEA with a standard EEA card will be 1.5% + €0.25 per transaction
Saving you 0.5% per transaction!
You can see the full details of the new rates here .
If you have questions about payments in any other currency, please do get in touch with us and we will do what we can to include this in the Unified account configuration.
If you are currently connected to Stripe, we’ll need to get you set up with a new Stripe Unified account to allow you to take advantage of the new relationship between WriteUpp and Stripe. The new rates are not available to Standard Stripe accounts, but a new account can be set up easily from within WriteUpp. Please note, the account must be set up from within WriteUpp, it cannot be created directly with Stripe.
To switch your existing Stripe connection:
Log into WriteUpp and go to Integrations & Add Ons -> Stripe -> Configure
Click on 'Connect to Stripe Unified' at the bottom of the screen
Follow the steps on screen to create a new Stripe account using the new connection
Once you see confirmation that your account has been onboarded, you’ll be returned to the Stripe configuration screen within WriteUpp.
WriteUpp will now be using your new Stripe account to process payments
While you create your new Stripe unified account, your Standard account will remain connected, to ensure no disruption to your payment services.
You can read more about switching your current Stripe connection here .
Once you’ve completed these steps, we’ll switch your WriteUpp connection to use your newly onboarded account. The account that was previously connected to WriteUpp will remain as it was, accessible to you and containing all of your historic payment information.
If you’re not already using Stripe to take payments via WriteUpp, why not give it a try today? There’s no charge to set up a Stripe account, you only pay for the transactions that you process.
Head to Integrations & Add Ons -> Stripe -> Connect to onboard your new account today! Have any questions or concerns before you give it a go? Get in touch with us today via Live chat and we’ll be delighted to discuss payments with you.

In the previous release, we introduced fields for ‘Preferred Name’ and ‘Pronouns’ to the Patient Summary.
In this release, we’ve now added these new fields as smart fields to the form builder. If you send out a smart form with these fields present, you can then import the details straight into the patient record from the completed form!
It is now possible to export invoices with negative line items to Xero from within WriteUpp, such as in the case of a credit note.
Warning: you cannot export an invoice where the discount value is higher than the line item price, resulting in a negative overall total.
When uploading attachments via Create -> Attachments, if you navigate away before the files have finished uploading, then they will not be saved to the client record.
To handle this, we have now added a warning that some changes may not be saved if you leave the page before all attachments have finished uploading. If you see this warning, remain on the page until all of the files say ‘Changes saved’. You can then navigate away knowing all of your attachments have been uploaded successfully.
This check has also been added when uploading files to the File Storage area!
We are aware that a small percentage of users are experiencing issues with camera and microphone access during video consultations. We understand how important the video call feature is and continue to test and apply fixes to resolve the issue.
A new update to the video call functionality in this release involves participants having to manually turn on their camera and microphone for the call to work. After allowing permissions as usual, you will then be prompted to turn on your camera and microphone using the buttons at the bottom of the screen:
We are working with zoom to resolve these problems and encourage users to contact us with any issues, as this may help us in finding a solution. Please do let us know if this latest update helps at all!
We have fixed a bug which was causing the selected date to change to the day before when an access request was saved.
The tags section has been removed from under Tools. You can manage your patient tags from under Fields.
An issue with saving changes to the footer of an invoice on some sites has been resolved.
All address variables will now populate different parts of the address onto new lines, if that is how the address is entered.
If there is an error when sending a patient communication via email, such as a hard bounce, then we will no longer opt the patient out of email communications. This means that you will receive notification of the failed email and will know to amend the patient’s email address.
